Business and Education Partnerships in Connecticut
- Connecticut Business and Industry Alliance Education Foundation
A nonprofit affiliate of the CBIA, the mission of the Education Foundation is to prepare a skilled workforce for Connecticut employers by developing public-private sector partnerships in education and job training. Much of its work involves seeking out existing grants and coordinating interaction between schools and districts and local businesses by providing ongoing information on how to develop internships, externships, job shadowing, field trips, and other on-site training programs to engage students. It manages the Connecticut State Scholars Program. It also founded ProEd, a web-based resource that provides curriculum and content frameworks, best practices, and other professional development information for Connecticut's educators. -
Connecticut’s Coalition for Achievement Now (ConnCAN)
ConnCAN is a non-profit outreach, education, and research organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap throughout Connecticut’s public schools. Supported by a board of business and education leaders from across the state, ConnCAN publishes original policy papers, organizes an “Action Center,” which offers stakeholders with opportunities to become involved in education reform at the school-, district-, and state-level, and provides report cards on each school’s performance at raising achievement and closing the gap between advantaged and disadvantaged students.
